How can identify my values as a person?

To identify your values as a person, you can try the following exercises:

  • Think about the most meaningful moments in your life. What were you doing? Who were you with? What made these experiences so special? The values that are most important to you are likely to be reflected in these moments.

  • Think about the moments you felt the least satisfied. What was going on? What were you feeling? What was missing? Identifying the things that make you feel unhappy can also help you to identify your values.

  • Pay attention to what stories inspire you. What are the qualities that you admire in the characters? What themes do the stories explore? The stories that we find inspiring often reflect our own values.

  • Figure out what makes you angry. What injustices are you passionate about righting? What behaviours do you find unacceptable? The things that anger us are often the things that we value most deeply.

  • Imagine your ideal environment. What kind of place would you want to live and work in? What kind of people would you want to be surrounded by? What kind of activities would you want to be involved in? Imagining your ideal environment can help you to identify the values that are most important to you.

Once you have a better understanding of your values, you can start to think about how to live a more values-driven life. This may involve making changes to your career, your relationships, or your lifestyle. It may also involve simply becoming more mindful of your choices and taking the time to reflect on whether or not your actions are aligned with your values. Here are some additional tips for identifying your values:

  • Write down your values. This will help you to clarify your thinking and to identify any patterns.

  • Talk to people you admire. Ask them about their values and why they are important to them.

  • Read books and articles about values. This can help you to learn more about different values and to explore different perspectives.

Remember, your values are unique to you. There is no right or wrong answer when it comes to identifying your values. The most important thing is, to be honest with yourself and to reflect on what is truly important to you.
